Computers hurting children’s development?

The growing use of computers in schools can be hazardous to the education of young children, suggests a report done for the right-wing think-tank Frontier Centre For Public Policy.

Time spent in front of a computer could be better spent learning basic literacy skills and interacting with the teacher, says the four-page brief.

“In terms of thinking just of common sense … that’s just a lot of teaching time that you can lose,” said study author Michael Zwaagstra, who has a master’s degree in education and teaches high school social studies in Steinbach, Man. (link)
