Lionsgate joins the Apple iTunes library

Lionsgate has struck a deal with U.S. computer giant Apple to provide digitized versions of its movies that can play on iPods and similar devices.

Lionsgate, with headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., and Vancouver, said it’s working with Apple to provide a digital copy of its films to consumers by using iTunes.

Customers who buy certain Lionsgate DVDs will get a code that they can enter at the iTunes store to download a copy of the movie that plays on both their computers and portable devices like the video iPod and iPhone.

The plan will rollout with the DVD and Blu-ray releases of Sylvester Stallone’s “Rambo” and “The Eye,” a supernatural thriller starring Jessica Alba. (link)
