Review: SciPhone i9++ (iPhone clone)

sciphone0011
Wow, I can’t believe people still hit up this old post. Anyways it would appear that nobody searches the comments for answers so here’s a quick rundown of the most commonly posted questions/problems.

Review Sciphone i9++ (more)

Dual sims – yes, you can have both active at the same time. Not sure how it works if you receive 2 calls at the same time though. 3G sims will work but you won’t get 3G speed.

Memory – the max is 2GB, however newer versions/firmware may support larger sizes. Mine only takes 2GB and it’s a Kingston brand so I can confirm that is compatible.

Transferring files to your phone – plug in the phone to your pc, when the dialogue box pops up on your phone select “mass storage”, it should pop up on your computer as 2 new drives. Select the larger of the 2 and copy your data over. It might take you a few tries to get the right folder for the appropriate media files. I’m not going to tell you where what files go where, you should be able to figure it out on your own. The other option is bluetooth adapter. I’ve tried it, it works, stuff gets dumped into the bluetooth folder (received files or something like that).

Vibration – settings> user profiles> customize> alert type. If you don’t want your phone to vibrate or ring at all (ie. silent mode) set the alert type to ring, then change the volume down the lowest setting.

Pricing – I’ve seen them as low as $40 US lately.

Apps – you cannot download apps. A handful of java games will work but not many. Plus the ones that you do get to work will run very slowly. It is not compatible with iTunes.

SMS/MMS/Internet – it doesn’t work out of the box. You will need to configure your SMS/MMS/Internet settings yourself based on your service provider.

Video files – need to be down sampled to 176×144 in mp4 or 3gp format. A 1 hour show should be about 60MB.

Quality issues – there are many unofficial manufacturers of the SciPhone i9++ so don’t be surprised if you get a dud. There are already quality issues with the phone to begin with. Let’s face it, you are the owner of a fake Chinese clone of an iPhone. Do not expect it have the same build quality, features, performance of a name brand product. Many of the people that post here are mistaken in believing they are getting a true iPhone clone when in fact they simply buying a phone that LOOKS like an iPhone. Remember, there’s a difference between talking the talk and walking the walk. This phone does neither well. I bought the phone out of interest, this is in no way my main phone, nor did I rely on this phone for extended use. (I currently use a Nokia E71). While it does provide some usability, it really is a novelty product. In the end, you get what you pay for.

I will continue to approve comments but I have not been responding to inquiries.

How to turn off vibration for i9++ i68

*The Original Post*

I know what you’re thinking. WHY? Just get the real thing! Well for one the data plan is a big barrier for the average user. Up here in Canada the minimum iPhone plan will run you $60/month on top of the 3 year contract and the purchase of the phone itself ($199). So if you could buy a fake at a fraction of the cost ($99USD from eBay) and avoid the whole data plan wouldn’t you at least investigate it?

So here it is: the SciPhone i9++ unlocked GSM quadband (850/900/1800/1900 Mhz) 3.2″ touch screen mp3 video java bluetooth gprs fm radio 1.3mp camera video recording.

sciphone002Marketed as i9+ or i68+ or 3G i9++ (no 3G functionality). There are many sellers on eBay. Judging by the box, you think you’re buying a real iPhone (but of course you’d be wrong). Probably not a good idea to buy one of these if you’re vacationing in China. Don’t get fooled by those shady street vendors. Even the box shows “AT&T” in the picture and Safari as the browser, just looks good to me.

sciphone003Open up the box and still looks good so far. The packaging is nicely sealed and indeed it does look like an actual phone and not a brick inside. Looks like everything is here. 2 batteries (3.7v, 1000mAH, lithium ion), charger, USB cable, micro SD adapter, and wired headset. Each neatly wrapped up in their individual plastic bags.

sciphone004Hey look! It’s actually charging! This is a good sign. Perhaps the phone may even actually make calls. (photo is washed out due to the crappy flash, hey, it’s an old Fujitsu camera, that’s what was available at the office).

sciphone005The manual was essentially useless. Here’s an exaggerated sampling “SMS: to SMS type an SMS” or perhaps “To make phone call, press phone icon, and type in number”. Forget putting in important details such as setting up your SMS or MMS settings or video file resolution playback, or which folders to put what files in. Instead you’re left to figure that out all on your own.

I’m just going to put a bunch of pictures here. Yes, that does say “Phone” and “16GB” (no it isn’t actually 16GB, supposedly the limit is 8GB).

sciphone006sciphone007sciphone008sciphone010

Inside it has the badging “SciPhone i9++”, quadband, standard serial number and IMEI number. Spot for the micro SD card on the right and 2 SIM slots on the left. Stylus, yes, a stylus. It comes in handy sometimes, but it’s a bit too small for my liking. The tip tends to dig into the “webbing” between my thumb and finger when I hold it. The back plastic piece takes a bit of patience to get off the first time. Because it is so flimsy you don’t want to risk breaking it by being too forceful. It’s not a big deal after you’ve done it a few times (THATS WHAT SHE SAID! *budda-boom!)

sciphone009sciphone011sciphone013

The touch functionality is good. The interface is not as quick as the real iPhone. Flow page navigation is easy with the thumb (up to 5 pages I believe, we’ll see after I install all of my java games). Compared to the CECT P168 and the previous SciPhone i9 the screen is better and the camera is better. The P168 is still king when it comes to reception. You will find reception to occassionally jump around with the SciPhone i9++. Call quality is above average. Hey, it’s even got speaker phone.

Bluetooth didn’t seem to work initially. I tried connecting my headset and it didn’t work on the first try. Powered it off and tried again and it detected instantly.

The volume is loud. Make sure you have your thumb on the volume tab when you get that first call. And for God’s sake change the default ringtone! Load that thing up with your mp3s stat!

You can’t change the default screen saver (at least I haven’t figured out how to) but you can switch between the basic ones. When you’ve got the lock screen up, give the phone a shake to the left or right (yes, it supports the shake feature, also during mp3 playback) to switch pictures. I like the stones one myself, something peaceful about those smooth rocks.

Overall it seems like a bargain for $99 USD. Anything more and it’s probably not worth it. I’ve only had it for less than a week but I’m pretty happy with it so far. I’m still trying to set up the GPRS to do some web surfing but that’s not a big deal for me since I’m not spending my time doing Twitter or Facebook updates. The stylus is really handy for texting since my fat fingers often press the wrong letter. Down convertering video files to 3GP is annoying but certainly helps pass the time when you’re sitting at the doctor’s office waiting. Also the video does auto rotate to both sides depending on which way you turn the phone.

Bottom line is: you could do worse. It’s a very good fake iPhone. Even fooled some of my friends after they picked it up and played with it. They found it to be a bit lighter but couldn’t quite figure out why this iPhone was different. Also you need to remember what you’re buying. It’s a iPhone clone, a fake, made in China, most likely from some shady dropshipper. I wouldn’t be surprised if it stopped working after 6 months. Make sure you get the right one. There are many models and believe it or not. There are actually clones of these clones. People making cheaper copies of these phones from left over parts! Probably why you hear horror stories from some people who bought this phone and how it sucks. They probably got a fake SciPhone or fake P168.

*Also don’t buy this phone if you’re big into texting. A touch screen phone is not meant for a great texting experience!

    thank you.

I bought mine off of eBay. Try to request picture of the packaging. Mine came in a box that looked exactly like the iPhone packaging. Or see if you can get a picture of the back of the phone with the cover and battery out. The SciPhone forum has other ways to tell if it’s legit or not.

Hi I got my I9++ yesterday and I couldn’t put my Virgin simcard in it for ages and it finally worked. I tried to recieve calls and tried to ring people but they couldn’t hear me and they still can’t because my reception is only on 1-2 bars. I need to know how I can make my reception higher and I need to know how to put my simcard in sim1 (which way do I put it)and how I can put java games/application on the phone? Thanks. Which phone has better reception out of the cect phones and which one is best? Please email me on (email removed). Thanks

    • 21 jtsmyth8 May 1, 2009 at 9:19 am

I have no experience with other networks outside of Canada so reception issues might simply be a compatibility problem. The other possibility is that you may have a fake on your hands there. If you’re looking for another handset the CECT P168 had great reception for me. Games: there are only a handful of true touch screen java games. Not every java game will work, nor will it run on your SciPhone (something to do with the slow cpu). Currently I’ve got Solitaire, Sudoku, Leisure Suit Larry (yes!) Age of Empires 2, and Orcs and Elves. Everything else that I’ve tried so far has not worked. This includes DS poker, midnight bowling/casino, settlers, Tetris, rainbow six, and devil may cry. Good luck!

      • 22 Meg August 10, 2009 at 5:13 pm

I am in Canada (Sudbury, ON) and also having trouble with my reception. The phone worked great in China, and worked once in Hamilton (by Toronto, ON), but doesn’t seem to work up here….any tips?

      • 23 jtsmyth8 August 11, 2009 at 10:22 am

I don’t have any suggestions for you. Maybe try one of those rangeboosters that you stick on the back of your phone? I haven’t had any problems with reception here in the GTA. I’m usually at 4 or 5 bars all the time.

    • 24 Victor Calleja June 16, 2010 at 8:16 am

Sim 1 is the upper slot. Insert simcard with contacts facing downwards

      Greatly appreciate..if you could email.

      Thanks,

    • 33 Alberto May 16, 2009 at 11:15 am

I have the same problem and could not find a”turn-off”pen down vibration..not only get in my nerves but its a battery eater.I’m afraid I’ve got a bad unit(cant say its a crap cause some other functions are working smoothly).Al

    • 35 yohana October 15, 2009 at 11:32 am

i believe you have to go to settings and go to dual sim settings and change to either dual sim open or sim2 open then once its changed go to settings again then phone setup and it should be there

  12. 36 Jeison May 10, 2009 at 12:43 pm

Hi, im planning to buy the i phone clone one of these days. But which is the best clone that you can recomend? Is it same with ciphone?tnx

    • 37 jtsmyth8 May 11, 2009 at 9:52 am

It’s hard to say. I’ve owned the following: a fake HiPhone (i9,i68), yes a clone of a clone which was an utter piece of crap. CECT P168, very nice phone, great reception. SciPhone (i9++, 3G) which I’m very happy with. I think the real trick is finding which model/phone you are actually getting since there are so many look-a-likes.

  13. 38 jess9 May 13, 2009 at 9:04 pm

    Quoc,
To turn off vibration, scrolled down until you find Misc.settings is last one. Click Misc Setting, you will find No 1- Touch screen vibration setting. Make sure turn it off.
I hope this will help you.

  18. 48 Colin SC May 31, 2009 at 3:59 am

So you mentioned the limit is 8 gig, so the standard 2 gig TF Micro SD card it comes with can be replaced with an 8 gig one … thats good
Thanks for the useful article, Colin

    • 49 jtsmyth8 June 1, 2009 at 8:31 am

Haven’t actually tried an 8GB yet, but I’ve confirmed that a 4GB will work. Everywhere that I have read says that it can take an 8GB memory card.

  19. 51 Arkam June 1, 2009 at 6:41 am

Can you use the Spectec SDW-823 (microSD WIFI card (802.11b) on the sciphone ?

  21. 55 Percy June 6, 2009 at 5:57 pm

When i connect to the computer through the usb it wont let me transfer anything over and says i have no memory but i have the 8GB version!! Please help

    • 56 jtsmyth8 June 8, 2009 at 11:33 am

Make sure you are selecting the memory card and not the built in memory on the phone when transferring data. You should see 2 drives pop up when you connect the phone. As well you might want to check your microSD card to see that it is working and properly formatted.

  22. 57 calvin June 9, 2009 at 7:31 am

    hey hey

first off, the review has been most helpful, many thanks.

secondly, anyone know what cable this thing uses for data transfer/charging?
my brother has given me one, and politely lost the cable. so i need to get one somewhere, but have no clue what it uses.

    help?

  23. 58 imchazbo June 25, 2009 at 9:13 pm

Just recvd my sci phone – it takes some getting used to, but i can not figure out how to get a different ring tone. I haven’t had any other problem and this is great for the money. If someone can let me know how to set up a new ringtone I would be indebted!!! thanks

    • 59 jtsmyth8 June 26, 2009 at 9:18 am

      Settings>User Profiles>General>Customize
If you want to use an MP3 as a ringtone first you need to go to the music player, then bring up the list, options, then add to rings. Then you will be able to select that MP3 as a ringtone.

i bought a i9+++ and when try to make call ican’t beacuse it’s emergency call only how i can fix this problem?

  27. 70 Michael Franz July 6, 2009 at 9:55 pm

im looking to buy the i9++. can u still add music to it if you dont have a SIM card in the phone? will it still allow you to turn on the phone and use the mp3 player part of the phone?

    • 71 jtsmyth8 July 7, 2009 at 11:22 am

I believe so, however, why buy the phone if you aren’t planning on using it as a phone? I’m sure you can find a reasonably priced touchscreen mp3 player that isn’t a knock off. As long as you have a microSD card installed you should be able to upload music and use the player.

I cannot move with any app installation in java. The navigation flow says “You have to set up an account… Do you want to set it right now?” but it does not gives me an OK or YES option to click. So I click on the round button and it puts me out of the app I was on into the main menu. Please help!!

    • 76 jtsmyth8 July 14, 2009 at 9:11 am

Not all java apps are compatible with the i9++. I notice a lot of games do not show up on the phone in the correct resolution. Hence a lot of functions are displayed off screen and unusable. How did you install the java app? Usually I copy the .JAR file over to my memory card then install via the java function on the phone.

      • 77 widhieraden June 22, 2010 at 3:42 am

I got my own sciphone i9+++. But I can’t even install any java in my phone. No games, no apps. It says that “not enough memory” although I still have 960 Mb free left in my micro SD. please help…

  31. 78 Jeca July 14, 2009 at 4:14 am

Hi I’m planning to buy the i9+++, my doubt is..Are both sims active simultaneously? or do I have to switch from one sim to another???

    • 79 jtsmyth8 July 14, 2009 at 9:06 am

You can only have one sim active at any time.

      • 80 baGhU October 27, 2009 at 11:18 am

my phone model is i9++ and I don’t know if it’s different with i9+++. But regarding with the sim cards, both sims can be activated with my phone. But sometimes, text messages would be delayed..

      • 81 jtsmyth8 October 28, 2009 at 1:21 pm

the i9++ vs the i9+++ is just a difference of software version I believe. Could be the same, all I know is what my phone was called by the person who I bought it from off of eBay. The delay of text messages sounds normal when you have dual sims active. I’ve never actually tried 2 sims at once.

    • 82 Joie July 26, 2009 at 7:22 am

I’ve been using an I9+++ with dual sim activated for more than a week.
Just try to check on ‘set-up’ then ‘network set-up’.

My problme is how to activate the gprs so i can use the internet and also how to download games.

      • 83 tejas September 2, 2009 at 2:13 pm

        montion sensor of i9+++
two day back i bought i9+++ from ebay.in
acutally my photos are not moving with changing direction of phone..other wise music, wall paper are chaning..also i m not able to find firmware and version of phone.. *#0000# and *#8375# both were not working..

      • 84 jtsmyth8 September 3, 2009 at 12:00 pm

Sounds like you have a fake one.

      • 85 SAntosh October 13, 2009 at 3:00 pm

jtsmyth8 .. Which fone do u have?? And wat is ur phone memory..
Mine shows 172 kb… Everythin works awesome.. I even have the gravity/shake feature on my fone for MP3 etc… Does ur fone have tat 2.. the real i fone is xpensive is india.. its 36 k.. (around 700$)… crazy price !

      • 86 jtsmyth8 October 14, 2009 at 10:29 am

When I bought it, it was called the Sciphone i9++. The basic phone memory is quite small however you can put a microSD card in it to add 2GB of memory storage. 2GB is the max from what I’ve found, but newer firmware versions may allow for larger storage. Yes, mine does have the “shake” feature.

      • 87 Byohazard February 16, 2010 at 9:44 am

i have 172 kbts of memory too….it look we have to same model…. and guys…is there any way to get rid of memory limit? mine says 32gb on the back, and it’s only 172 -or 182 kb 😦 ???????

      • 88 dave February 16, 2010 at 1:31 pm

The 32GB on the back is a Chinese marketing trick. It’s a joke or lie depending on how you look at it. Some phones come with a MicroSD card, but it’s usually only a 1 or 2 GB MicroSD. The actual size MicroSD it can handle depends on the phone, but it ranges from 1GB to 16GB. You should be able to check in the software to see the limit of the memory card so you don’t buy one to large for your phone. Goto SETTINGS > GENERAL > ABOUT to find out the info on your phone’s limits. It should look something like this (Complete with spelling errors).

On mine you can see that it says 16GB (it says 32GB on the back of the phone), but I haven’t tried it yet to see if it will accept one that large. I do know a 1GB works just fine. When I do try a 16GB, I’ll update it here. I hope that helps.

the i9 sciphone from china does not and will not convert to english as it is not installed or compatible, something they neglect to tell you when you purchase all words except for the website will come up in chinese, no way to change it to english and it was designed that way.

Thanks for your feed back, very helpful.
Q: which is better? 3 or 5 pages?

    • 91 widhieraden June 22, 2010 at 3:50 am

I bought my i9+++ in shang hai. fortunately the device that has been produced May 15th 2010 has already completed with the English. Even several other language such as Malay and Indonesia. Unfortunately some features can’t be perfectly used. the Bluetooth, the GPRS & MMS setting, the Java Apps and the radio connection. They don’t work…it’s a sad, isn’t it?

    Hi,
ive recently bought my fake iphone in shanghai (in the big fake market), for 600 RMB( was it abit to expensive??). I checked the internet to see what kind of fake phone ive bought, but because theres no brand label or webbsite refered on the box, its hard 2 tell what ive just bought.

Then i got across this blog, and i saw the tiny picture with the “golden battery” and the label “phone” & “16gb” (the phone only have like 250kb memory).witch is exactly what i got.

The thing is, my phone dosnt have a pen included and it dosnt have a hole or anything that would indicate that is should be included. Does it mean its not a i9++? but a fake of a fake..

anyways , overall it didnt cost me that much, so im still happy with it. I can call ppl, recive calls, and it plays mp3.

(PS sry for my bad spelling, english isnt my native language)

  35. 94 chanel July 24, 2009 at 7:55 am

hey im from australia and was really intersted in buying this phone, ive been on alot of forums’ saying there really good, and some saying – this phone is crap.

    should i bother purchases one?

plus i was considering buying one from ebay from china, and i want to ask why does the sciphone recuire 2 sim cards?
if this phone is bought as unlocked.. will my sim card fit into the slot?

    PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.
    THANKS CHANEL

    • 95 jtsmyth8 July 24, 2009 at 5:16 pm

If you can afford a real iPhone, get the real thing. If you want something that looks like an iPhone then this is the cheaper cousin. Also it does not require 2 sim cards, it has slots for 2 sim cards in case you go over seas you just pop in a local sim card and your phone will work. Your sim card should work fine.

Mp3s play fine, videos require down conversion, only a handful of true touchscreen java games work on this phone. If you do decide to buy one, make sure it’s a legit SciPhone i9++, the fake versions of this phone are the ones that are really crap. Don’t spend more than $100US on this phone listed on eBay.

Hi, i have a SCIphone, model i9+++. I would really like to install java applications into my phone but i’m not sure of where to find the applications and how to put the applications into my phone. I’ve tried this website, http://www.java.com, but failed. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

    • 97 jtsmyth8 July 27, 2009 at 10:39 am

I just copy the .JAR file to my memory card, then use the java app on the phone to install applications. Only a few java apps will work properly on the phone.

  37. 99 Rey July 29, 2009 at 7:48 pm

Yes you can use 2 sim cards at the same time. I am using 2 simcards 1 is where the country i am into and the other is for roaming where i came from. Both is functioning very well

  38. 100 sakbowma July 30, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Will this phone work with my 3G sim card for ATT?

    • 101 jtsmyth8 July 30, 2009 at 1:55 pm

It will work but you won’t get 3G coverage or speeds.

      • 102 apayne August 3, 2009 at 9:19 pm

will i get the internet services if i have a att card and is texting? i just bought one off of ebay infact i will get it in like a week but now that i am reading up on it i have mixed emotions. is it really that hard to function

      • 103 jtsmyth8 August 5, 2009 at 10:31 am

You just have to set up the internet on the phone, MMS/SMS, for ATT. Don’t expect to plug in your sim and magically have internet access. You will have search around to find the wireless settings for ATT.

  40. 106 Lovelyjenn August 1, 2009 at 11:09 am

Hello. Recently I purchased this phone. Surprisingly, I won’t be asking how to turn the vibration off like everyone else. My question has to do with putting it on silent mode. It still vibrates which i have no problem with but whenever the locked screen comes up it still makes that shutter sound whether its on silent or not. Sometimes it does it a couple times. Is there any way to turn this off? I’d hate to think I can’t take my phone anywhere because it won’t be quiet.
Thanks so much for your time!

    • 107 jtsmyth8 August 5, 2009 at 10:27 am

“shutter sound” hmm, that’s a new one. I don’t think I’ve run into that problem. I don’t have a solution for you unfortunately. How about getting it to make the “shutter sound” while using the volume button on the side? Does anyone else have suggestions?

      • 108 freddy September 24, 2010 at 3:05 am

I have a sciphone i9 (clone) problem with sound (click) photo may block, now I open a page of application (eg calculator or profile) and I left like that, sometimes it works, if not possible to sleep with the phone and alarm clock all night. FREDDY

  41. 109 yungleesharpe August 11, 2009 at 6:08 am

Just bought the i9+++ in a dodgy SE Asian country for about 65USD! Have managed to suss most of it out apart from as some people have already mentioned:

    1) Cannot turn off shutter sound when locked. And it seems to keep making the sound every 2 minutes and is random when it will stop.

    2) SMS – do messages received have a 2 message SMS limit – ie 320 characters? Probably the reason why am only getting half of what people are messaging me. In the menu next to the sms it says 2/2 so I assume this means what I describe here. Which is shit if it can only take 320 characters but cant complain for a fake phone i guess.

Umm there were some other things but i have forgotten! Would be so grateful if someone has an answer to the SMS limit thing.

  42. 110 yungleesharpe August 11, 2009 at 6:24 am

Oh yeah the other thing was how do i get a phone book listing of my contacts without having to search for them? When I go into Name – then the phonebook opens and the menu opens shows quick search, search contact, add new contact etc etc. How can I get to display that will just list my contacts alphabetically? Like on every other phone in existence since the dawn of the cell phone? Hope I am not being stupid here and missed something obvious in the settings!

hi. i got mine for my birthday today, and i am trying to work out how to install java? many thanks, emily

    • 113 jtsmyth8 August 19, 2009 at 12:23 pm

Install java? or install a java app? You should have a big JAVA button on your first page. To install java apps (not all will function properly) copy the .JAR file to your memory card and then use the JAVA button, and select the file you would like to install.

      • 114 Emily September 30, 2009 at 5:25 am

hi.. i have been wanting to use java games on my i9++ .i found “dazhihui java.jar” on my memory card (it came with the phone). I am pretty sure it is what i need, but it is in chinese/japenese (i cant tell the difference). Any tips? i have trid to work my way through it, but that didnt work… i also researched it but nothing came up..

        thanks

  44. 115 LJ August 20, 2009 at 6:40 pm

i have tried i think everything my only problem with my phone is getting the music i saved to my sim card to open up on the phone?????? any idea what to do or what im doing wrong…??

    • 116 jtsmyth8 August 24, 2009 at 12:03 pm

music files should go into the MP3 folder on the memory card (not sim). If that doesn’t work you can try using the Documents app to browse your memory card, you should be able to open any music files that way, assuming they are in the correct format.

  45. 117 raju August 24, 2009 at 4:12 pm

i acces my memory card from pc but when i try to connect to comm port it nothing work for me.pls help me

    • 118 jtsmyth8 August 25, 2009 at 10:56 am

Try connecting the phone when it is ON/OFF. If that doesn’t work, buy an SD adapter and access the memory card with a card reader.

HI! I´m From The Dominican Republic and I just got one Sciphone I9+++ and It works great with my provider company (Orange). I´ts a very good phone!!! i buyed it in Ebay for only US $ 73.00!! I´m very happy with my phone.. only thing that i dont like is the clicking noise that it makes when you block it, sometimes it stops.. but sometimes it keeps making it like 5 minutes… but that is nothing compared with the happiness of having an iphone clone THAT GOOD! (Would somebody please help me to shut up the noise?)

    • 125 jtsmyth8 August 27, 2009 at 11:49 am

I’m not familiar with the clicking noise you’re referring to. Maybe try this? Settings>UserProfile>General(or what ever you are using)>Customize>ToneSetup>Keypadtone>Silent
$73(US) that’s a good price, hopefully shipping wasn’t too expensive.

      • 126 Sonia October 2, 2009 at 9:04 am

I’m facing the same problem; I’ve tried already what you’re referring to without success; also, I’ve disabled the auto keypad lock feature (settings > Security Setup > Auto keypad lock None) and finally tried to eliminate the noise disabling all the extra tone (UserProfile>[Profile in use]>Customize> Extra tone — uncheck all the boxes). The phone still makes this annoying “click” …
I’ve heard that a problem could exist with some phones (depending on the software build) related with the usage of the second SIM card, but I could not undertsand if this is a “software bug” or an hardware defect.
Any inforamtion and/or suggestion wuold be appreciated.

    hi,

i recently got a sciphone and its going good, except for one thing…when someone is calling me the phone only rings twice then answers itself!!? is there a way to turn this off? has anyone else had this problem?

    • 130 Karen January 12, 2010 at 11:14 pm

I am having this problem, I thought I had it fixed but realized now I dont. I would be interested if someone has come up with anything on it. I havent had my phone for a week yet, I’m really not fond of it, but I am trying to give it a chance.

    • 131 winnie February 28, 2010 at 2:20 am

      Hi,
Check the settings. The Answer mode would have been set as “Auto”. This normally happens when you have your earphones plugged in to the phone. ( The profile changes to Headset Profile)
      To Change it,
Go to Settings -> User Profiles -> Headset Profile -> Answer mode-> Un check Auto Mode

      Hope this Helps you.

Hi just wondering how can you tell if its a real sciphone when you buy on ebay??

this one shows the serial #’s and says its manufactured by sciphone

    is it real?

  55. 140 Wayne September 19, 2009 at 9:19 am

I won an auction for this little fake phone from ebay for $73 (free shipping). The seller’s reputation is good, so I hope I will get a original clone, but I’m still afraid Sciphone is crap.
So I have a question for you guys. How long have you been using this Sciphone? Would it last at least a year? I don’t want to buy a phone that break 2 weeks later.

  56. 141 yipyapyipyap September 20, 2009 at 1:11 am

Looking to purchase the sciphone specifically for the dual sim feature which is the most important one for me…before I purchase, does anyone recommend a specific ebay seller for this product? I appreciate the help!!

  60. 147 xin October 3, 2009 at 1:00 am

hi..i have this sciphone i9 but i can’t play my video files.it keeps saying invalid video file.i wonder what happen?is this phone really can read mp4 files?

    • 148 jtsmyth8 October 5, 2009 at 12:43 pm

Video files need to be down converted to 176*144 and audio quality lowered if possible to avoid audio/video sync issues. Straight converting to an .MP4 format or iPod compatible file will not work.

  61. 149 esther October 5, 2009 at 2:40 am

      • 152 widhieraden June 22, 2010 at 5:29 am

    Hi,

I was wondering if the icons can be changed in the quick menu?
I have an icon of dial, text, calls & sms.
I would like one there of bluetooth or video recorder.

Thanks in advance for your answer!

    • 159 corin April 9, 2010 at 9:03 pm

I have a Sciphone i9+++ but most iphone clones work the same for this. Mine has 3 fixed icons at the bottom, dial, sms & phonebook but the 4th (multimedia) is moveable which I’ve just replaced with bluetooth. If I try to move any of the fixed ones. I get a breaking glass sound & cracked glass image – press centre button to clear. To move icons, press & hold the icon & release when they all wobble then press & drag where you want it to go. In the wobbly mode you can move the icons around, even to another page. To exit this mode press the centre button.

    • 166 jtsmyth8 October 22, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Try the sim in the other slot or try to get a new sim from your service provider. If that doesn’t work then you’re out of luck.

      • 167 Meg-z87 January 5, 2010 at 7:59 am

im pretty sure i have read somewhere that vodaphone is about the only company (sim) that wont work in the phone…so maybe thats the problem, but dont quote me on it sorry !

hi just picked one up a i9+++ doesnt show caller id when some one is calling like all my other phones do can you help thanks.

    • 169 jtsmyth8 October 26, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Sometimes the calling number isn’t associated to the same number in your phonebook without a “1” in front. Could explain why it doesn’t show up.

  75. 170 Jay October 23, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Please Please….DON’T buy this phone, even if you got money to waste, save yourself some time and pain, there is no compensation for pain and suffering in this case, i gave mine phone away for free after 1month.

    • 171 jtsmyth8 October 26, 2009 at 4:40 pm

I guess you didn’t have a positive experience? That’s too bad. It all comes down to what you expect from this phone. It is a cheap clone for a reason. I’ve had mine for a while now and it does the job. Only complaints so far is the lack of true java support, the crappy camera, and the dust that keeps getting underneath the glass. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the Motorola Droid and Cliq.

hi jtsmyth8, my phone is i9++ and i really want to have a large keyboard or the landscape one. I’m already a member to the forum you shared and I don’t know where to find it from their.. can you help me??

    • 173 jtsmyth8 October 28, 2009 at 1:17 pm

you have to get a firmware update, it’s unofficial from what I understand. Honestly I don’t think it’s worth paying for, just use the stylus with the existing keyboard. Definitely not the ideal solution but if you’re a serious IM/texter/messaging person, this is NOT the phone for you.

    hello bro..
i am from India and there are a million fakes out here in the markets.. recently found one on the Indian ebay site and stumbled upon your blog later.. Is this the original “SCI_PHONE” that you are refering to.. should I go ahead and make the purchase.. It retails for about 76USD here.. and the seller offerts lifetime service warranty, as in if the phone goes down, he’ll repair it for me (free of labour charges).. Is that a good deal, coz’ I dont wanna waste a months pocket money!!

  84. 185 Amanda November 10, 2009 at 3:52 pm

hey do you know if this phone is compatible with 3?

    some arent 🙂

  86. 188 kofi November 17, 2009 at 12:40 pm

So I guess the problem with the clicking sound cannot be resolved?
It is so annoying, I have disabled every imaginable sound/Tone feature but with no success.
I’m begining to wonder if it was a normal feature of a particular brand of the sciphone…
    .. or maybe software/hardware defect.
I keep my fingers crossed and hope someone gets a break through here.

    • 189 Chase November 17, 2009 at 1:07 pm

I just got my new I9++ and I can’t get it to read my SIM card. I charged it and put the SIM card in right but it says emergency calls only and I can’t recieve calls. I’m not good with these things so I’m sure I’m doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

      • 190 Chase November 25, 2009 at 12:25 pm

I still can’t get this phone to work. Emergency calls only!

      • 191 Dave January 26, 2010 at 2:41 pm

If you are using an at&t 3G SIM card, then good luck! My son and I both have i9+++ phones and they will work intermittently with these SIM cards (more not work than work). T-Mobile SIM cards seem to work A-O-K. I’ve heard that if you can find a good at&t pre 3G SIM card, then you won’t have any issues with the phone working on at&t. Gook luck finding one though.

  87. 192 Jen November 18, 2009 at 4:15 pm

hey i just brought the i9 but im having some problems with my sim. When i turn it on it keeps saying Emergency. DO you know how i can fix this problem? Thanks in advance

    • 193 Olga November 25, 2009 at 2:34 pm

sim one (top one) contacts are facing up and sim 2 slot (bottom) contacts face down. go into setting and make sure you have the right sim enabled.

      • 194 Dave January 26, 2010 at 2:44 pm

It seems that this is a common problem.

I agree with Olga that you have to make sure that the cards are installed correctly. However…

If you are using an at&t 3G SIM card, then good luck! I have an i9+++ phone and it will work intermittently with these SIM cards. T-Mobile SIM cards seem to work okay. I’ve heard that if you can find a good at&t pre-3G SIM card, then you won’t have any issues with the phone working on at&t. Gook luck finding one though.

i hav a problem my mp4 videos are not playing smoothly, does the phone require a 8gb mem card to play smoothly? if not wat is the perfect video settings of mp4 file.

    • 196 jtsmyth8 November 19, 2009 at 1:41 pm

check that your mp4 is at 176×144 resolution or lower the audio quality. As well you can try to get a faster memory card. I believe the phone can only take a 2GB memory card at max.

can somebody help me!!!!! i cant get the vibration off my phone i cant here when someone is calling me

  90. 198 Kemp November 23, 2009 at 3:34 pm

hello, i purchased a sciphone i9+++ and i have also been having some issues with the phone. Everytime i put the battery in, the phone begans to vibrate on its on and continues on and off until i remove the battery. Even if the phone is powered off and the battery is in, it still vibrates. i have went through the phone and turned all vibration off and it continues to vibrate, CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM?!!?!

  91. 200 teenz November 23, 2009 at 10:35 pm

I have the i9+++. This phone is limiting.

    * There’s no delete function to get rid of the fake apps.
    * Cannot get rid of the shutter/click sound.
    * There’s no time format option to change to 12 hr time.
    * The date format is US, which I don’t want.
    * Sometimes my choice of wallpaper doesn’t remain locked in.

After a day, a white line appeared at the top of the screen…oh, well. I do not think the phone is good value for money just yet as I had better functionality on my stink flip-phone. So far, the only plus is that it looks good.

    good blog, btw

    • 201 jtsmyth8 November 24, 2009 at 1:27 pm

You get what you pay for. What did you expect from a cheap Chinese knockoff phone? Did you really expect to get the same functionality from a $100 phone compared to an $800 Apple iPhone?

      • 202 teenz November 24, 2009 at 10:11 pm

Actually, I was not comparing it to the iphone. I was comparing it to the sagem myc5 for AUD$39-49, and looking at the basic functions of txt, call, calculator and time/date. From that, there were some things lacking. But I list the i9+++ limitations because that’s just the phone. I’m okay with my cheapy Chinese knockoff. I just want to txt, call and tell the time and my sciphone does that 🙂

  92. 203 Olga November 25, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I just got this phone, and am a little frustrated, like others i have the issue where I cannot delete the non-existing game icons, are they just there to make it look good? Also my screensaver black sreen turns on if I’m not touching my phone for like 10 seconds, anyway to re-adjust that? That will be quite annoying when I try to read an e-book. Also I got 2 batteries with the phone and one of them only lasts 4 hours on standby, hopefully the second one lasts longer, can someone tell me how long your battery lasts. And any links to java games that will work will be greatly appreciated.

Can someone plz help, I am trying to join the forum, but am unable to get the build date off my phone which I need to register, everytime I enter it, it tries to dial and says it cannot complete the call as dialed, tried disabling the sim and it says its used for emergency calls, Am I missing something here?

    • 206 cherri January 1, 2010 at 8:34 pm

having the same prob, but when I wrote to the forum for help they said they didn’t know what else to do. When I dial *#8375* it just gives me a busy signal then ends the call. And when I dial the other one *#0000# it says “language set default.” I’ve searched forums all over the internet and written to “experienced” sciphone users to no avail. PLZ HELP!!

      • 207 kirk January 19, 2010 at 11:46 pm

its *#8375# not *#8375* I had that problem earlier today, it’s a misprint on the website. Got mine for $55, I’m about to give it to my dog as a chew toy and repurchase the $19.99 model that this SciPhone replaced. At least I could text without the OS giving out on me halfway through each text, accurately press the intended buttons, and make phone calls without consistent interference.

When i activated GPRS and tried google i found the home page in Chinese language. Overall Do not waste money buying it.

    HELP

i turned my phone on for the first time this morning and there was a white line accross my screen. by this afternoon there is another one not a mm under neith it… is there anyway to get rid of it? please help me

    • 223 Dave January 26, 2010 at 2:32 pm

It sounds like you have a bad display. Over time the little micro connections on the edge of the LCD screen disconnect from the display. Once that happens there isn’t a whole lot you can do to fix it other than replacing the display. One question though… Does the lines go away if you press on the display near where the lines are appearing? If so, then this is definitely the problem. They sell displays on eBay if you want to take a stab at replacing it and I’m sure there is some information out on the net as to how to do this.

There is a very slight possibility that the software is corrupted(very slight). Try doing a master reset on the phone. You’ll lose all your data and have to reprogram it, but it might fix the problem.

In the phone, go to the menu:

      Soft Reset Code
System> Settings> Restore settings. The default code is called: 1122

      If that doesn’t work…

      Hard Reset Code
      On the main screen, type:
      *#337#+ call button

      Good luck.

all good info. i just bought the i9++ off ebay for about 60 usd. I ve had it about a week, and even dropped it on the cement yesterday. oops… but its ok. everything works generally as described. signal is usually so so or good. i cant download mms/vid messages -enet is not set up yet, and havent purchased sd card. good to know that it doesnt support over 2gb. touch screen does not react near as smooth as real phone, but moderator is correct, i got what i paid for. if i had the money id buy the real thing. i need to transfer that .jar file, not too savy on that one but i ll figure it out. i fat finger everything so im glad it came with a shifty stylus. most of my friends that have iphones are a lil shocked after lookin at it for a minute or so to realize that its a fake. both batteries for me last about a day, but i depleted both their charges immediately and then replenished until it showed charged complete. i dont get the random click noise, and yes the earphones are crap for calls and radio, though radio did work. – i only have one question. i ve seen alternate apps on the iphone for the camera. i ve changed the settings as much as possible and improved the pic some. is there any alt camera apps that will work on this phone. thanks -SSG

      Hi there

      Option (a) Mass storage

is what you need to upload things to
your phone. Very easy. Just cut and paste/drag and drop.

      You don’t need PC Suite.

  111. 236 Ruhiu December 23, 2009 at 6:30 am

    Hi all,
Thanks for this forum. I thought some of the glitches on my phone were unique but reading thru this blog and for the price???, it hardly surprising. I ‘ve had the phone for a few days and it works ok so far. Only thing is I need to turn on the Auto Keypad lock. I’ve checked everywhere but can’t find the feature. Also, how to put the phone in silent at the movies or in a meeting…..anyone who has figured out this problem?

  112. 238 Ruhiu December 23, 2009 at 6:56 am

    Hi All,
I ve just figured out how to move the Icons around (on the i9…phone. It says 32GB….really??). Simply touch any icon for more 2 seconds and then they will all start to swagger like they are ‘high’. You can then move them around as you prefer by dragging with yr finger. When through, press the On/Off button at the bottom.
I still have not figured out the problem of silent mode and Auto keypad lock though….any ideas yet???

    Have a good one.

    • 239 cherri January 1, 2010 at 8:38 pm

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

    • 240 corin April 9, 2010 at 9:56 pm

      As above for silent mode.

My problem is the slide & unlock before being able to answer an incoming call, when the phone is already unlocked. It works ok sometimes but most of the time I’ve lost the call by the time I get the slide to move.

It makes no sense to me for the phone to lock when a call comes through.

One suggestion was to set each profile to any key answer then use the volumn key on the side of the phone which apparently works on some models but only affected the actual volumn on my i9+++.

      Does anyone have another suggestion?

      Cheers

how do you put it onto a silent mode? help please!

    • 243 cdcork December 30, 2009 at 11:19 am

switch profile to meeting, that will set ring to vib only

    • 244 cherri January 1, 2010 at 8:49 pm

      * on the main screen hit the “settings” icon
      * Then “User profiles”
      * choose any profile (for silent I modified “Meeting”)
      * hit “Customize”
      * hit “Alert type”
      * select “Vib. only” (I don’t think there’s a “silent mode” at least not one I could find.

I also have done the following
      * after hitting “Customize”…
      * hit “Tone setup”
      * The 1st and 2nd options are for either SIM1 and SIM2 (I don’t think it matters what that’s set on as there’s no “silent” option)
      * on all the rest (Power on, Power off, SIM1 message tone, SIM2 message tone and keypad tone) select “Silent”

      Hope that helps

    Hi, pals,
I’ve just got my i9+++ yesterday and still can’t figure out how to make a playlist with all the songs I have in the micro SD card – they are all playable one by one, but the phone doesn’t want to play them one after another in a music list – when I try changing a song with the next one, it just starts over again and doesn’t go to the next one.
So my question is how to make a playlist? Is it possible to be created by the phone menu or via the computer?
10x if U can help me.

If you wanna pull your hair out from frustration, then you have the right phone. What a piece of crap ! Horribly slow, very temperamental, drops calls like there is no tomorrow, after a mont the touch screen went even though the phone was never dropped, carried in a back pocket or had any other kind of abuse. All of a sudden the touchscreen died. Looks feels and performs cheaply. I am going back to my old P900.

I edited the text profile settings and stupidly deleted the SC address..now i cant send messages or make calls..does anyone know how to get this code back at all?

    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I recently purchased the SciPhone for my boyfriend. Everything is great. It isnt exactly easy to use but i dont really think any phone is until you get use to it, anyways, the issue he is having is… that the screen keeps shutting off on him. Even when he is working on something like writing a txt msg or even trying to use the settings it just shuts off and you have to do the slide to open thing and do eveything all over again. Do you know what the issue with that might be? I know that its the actual SciPhone I did my research before i purchased it. This is the only thing that I can think of right now. If you have any idea why this may be happening can you please let me know?

    Thank you

    Kat

    • 269 Tammy July 2, 2010 at 2:57 pm

hi i also had the same problem and i researched it

so here might be his problem if he is only using one sim card make sure he puts it in the sim1 slot for this causes alot of problems
the only time you can use the sim2 slot is if you are actually usin 2 sim cards !!

  135. 270 Joel January 23, 2010 at 7:46 pm

Yes, you can have 2 sim cards active at the same time, I have tried and it works. Or you can select either sim1 or sim2.

The 2 sim feature was the essential one for me, as I travel internationally quite a bit and dislike fooling with the little cards to change them by hand. I couldn’t care less whether this thing looks like an iphone or like a fried egg, as long as it makes calls for me in a number of countries.

I have owned 2 of these in rapid succession from 2 different ebay sellers. The first went dead after a few hours. The second has been working fine for 2 weeks now, and so far I like it a lot. Small physical differences indicates to me that they came from different factories. A very good value for the money, I think, IF you don’t get one of the crappy ones — and that’s the issue (besides the horrendous documentation). Still have to see if it is reasonably durable.

By the way, the FM radio feature has been working well for me — handy on boring suburban train rides. The ebook reader works OK, too, and displays text files reasonably well.

  136. 271 mya January 28, 2010 at 7:25 pm

    Please HELP !
Its working okay, but when ever I click write a message it just freezes up and wont let me type any letters and i cant even click the back button to get out of it.
Every other thing works just fine, i just cant text cause I cant write a message.
    I need help ASAP/
    Please !

  142. 277 LeoV February 18, 2010 at 4:25 am

These phones are JUNK! I bought one thinking it was a great deal, It is impossible to find accesories for them, the phone is confusing, there are no shortcuts, most of the apps are in chinese. I put mine back on ebay and got rid of it ASAP. I think the chinese rushed to make a phoney iPhone and it shows. Go back to the drawing board.

  143. 278 LeoV February 18, 2010 at 4:41 pm

I still say these Sciphones, CECT’S are all junk. I got rid of mine and bought a used blackberry for 35 bucks on ebay. screw it!

Where Do I Put In A Memory Card? Please Help

    • 282 Allie February 23, 2010 at 6:57 pm

The memory card is the mini SD card, if you take off the back cover you can see where the SIM card goes, it’s the *other* empty space. Google it and you should be able to see a picture. Good luck!

  155. 292 Dinny March 15, 2010 at 12:24 am

To all those out there wanting to buy this CECT i9++ or sciphone, its a piece of shit and dont buy it!!!! waste of money, i had 2 and both were baddd.

    A) the touch screen is horribble. its not smooth and losses its calibration after lots of use, eventually u have to use the stylus to get around which is pointless

    B) its a CLONE or a FAKE for some odd reason people cant figure that out…just cause it looks like it doesnt mean it is it. sure u may be able to trick a few friends and what not but thats it…doesnt take a genius to figure out this is a fake…

    C) you can find them on ebay for about %60 buy it now and even less if you buy through auction…there are many different types and yes even clones of clones…the 2 i had worked but i got a REAL iphone cause i cudnt text or do anything besides answer calls with this one….

buy one of these if u have around %60~$70 laying around and want something to mess around with…its not usefull in anyway and i ended up selling mine on ebay…i hope people can learn that just cause it looks like an iphone doesnt mean its an iphone,,,,

  160. 297 FERRO March 23, 2010 at 11:03 pm

I buy some phones like this in ebay, starts $100, in my country i sell in $200 nice bussines. Now the phone is fashionable compared with a original iphone, obiiusly. The chinesse makers offers an other way phones without keyboard. I enjoy the video (3gp are 100% better to the called “mp4 chinesse video format, so heavy) and photho viewer and text reader. Java apps can be load and makes so funny the experience. Fm radio and now tv option are awesome. I like so mouch this babies, really. The camera are not good, very bad resolution. The price? crazy because if starts in $ 100 may be you can get one for $ 75. If the virtual keyboard be more large like a iphone, this babie be perfect. XIE XIE!

for “cookie” user, ,this phone uses a “Mymusic” folder in the sd. create one and put your songs, the mp3 player loads fron it.

  169. 307 nerdstrm April 6, 2010 at 2:36 am

I bought the i9+++ a week ago. Once I calibrated it it was ok. I had a Blackberry storm that was really great but couldn’t afford the data plan anymore. This phone is really rediculous with the steps you have to take to do anything, but interesting none-the-less. I just bought it as a back up anyway. The only real gripe I have is I can’t seem to make a playlist and I have to go to documents/mem card/mp3 etc… but can only play one song at a time which makes the “shake” feature useless. Is there some way to play mp3 files continuously? FYI, I got the same one featured here and it’s pretty nice!

  173. 311 XP April 11, 2010 at 2:48 pm

    Hello all,

I”m still wondering how to put mp3s in the music player.
I’ve looked all over a found nothing concrete & to top it all most of the videos on this matter have a different look.
As many others I can easily insert mp3s in the phone, play them individually & set them up as ringers, but I’m still losing hair over getting them over to the music player.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks all.

  182. 320 Dingus April 27, 2010 at 9:09 pm

A note to anyone with sense..

These phones really are the most crappy peice of shit out there.. If you are in Australia (as I am) and want to recharge the phone, you would usually dial 1511 or whatever to recharge with your recharge number on the receipt from the service station etc.. Guess what, you can’t with these shitbox phones. Why? because when you dial the number it changes the screen and says connected and you have no way to enter in the recharge credit number.. WOW, imagine that.

You either need to recharge online (from a computer), yes from a computer because these shitboxes won’t get you online with vodafone Australia. (not sure about the other carriers).

I have had mine for well over a year and it has lasted.. It’s been dropped, scratched, traveled to exotic places and shoved inside holes you could only dream of.. 🙂 (use your own imagination, but lets say thailand is a strange place).. It still works fine and can put up with lots of hell.

I will say that it is a great phone if you just want 2 sims in the same phone and it looks good.. other than that it’s a total shitbox.. they are cheap & nasty, but don’t buy one for its media properties. (the ring tones will make you think you were in downtown HK on market day)..

Have fun with your shitbox! You really don’t need to take care of it.. It is a shitbox and you bought it because it was cheap. and looked good (probly as I did). Want something that rocks? get a Nokia or something like that as there are heaps out there that will shit all over this for about $49 AUD from you local dickhead or jbhifucker.

    enjoy..

    • 347 dinamdave June 11, 2010 at 12:02 pm

This happened to my son and it took a while to figure out, but we finally did. You need to go to the device manager and reactivate the mass storage device that represents your phone in the USB section. It probably got deactivated when Vista went into auto-shutdown to install updates while you had your phone connected to the computer. You have to love Microsoft.

had phone for a month and its great. of course it aint as good as iphone or other touch screens that are like $400 usd. i paid $60usd on ebay including shipping. could’ve got it for $40 usd but seller was in china and was 20-30 day wait.so i paid more for american seller and got it 3 days later. if you want top of the line quality PAY MORE MONEY. if you want a touch screen phone this is great. my friend broke his iphone and had to pay $150 usd for deductible to get a new one. when this breaks i will buy another new one for cheap. plus i save $15 a month, since i dont need insurance, (which is not alot but i have 3 lines so insurance is $45 a month.) now that i save that, i could buy a new one every month. well worth the money you pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now help me please…I have my own sciphone i9+++ as a gift from a friend that was visiting shang hai. The phone is working properly accept in several part :

    1. I can’t get the GPRS & MMS setting. It won’t wrok when I set it with my local provider setting standard (btw. I’m in Indonesia)

    2. the Bluetooth uninitialized when I turned it on

    3. I can’t install no java to my phone. Although I still have 976 Mb free in my micro SD

    4. the Radio doesn’t work although I plug the headset in.

Is there some one have these informations? please tell me…

      1. sorry can’t help you there. If you entered in the correct settings and it still doesn’t work then you are out of luck. 2. bluetooth performance can be spotty, I find my headset losing connections quite often. 3. if it didn’t come with java you cannot install it. 4. even if you did get the radio working the reception is terrible.

I think what I learned here today is….NOT TO BUY A QUESTIONABLE PHONE WITHOUT CHECKING REVIEWS FIRST. I was skeptical…but went against my tuition anyway and bought this thing. I have yet to even turn it on. I’m at working checking out this review and I already am thinking of ways to sell it on ebay. At this point i’m SURE the jerk who sold it to me knew that it was a horrible idea. I’ve been ripped the hell off and if I would have taken the time to research first…I could have avoided this piece of crap plastic.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

i need to know how to delete the installed apps from my sciphone i68 and how do install java

    • 365 jtsmyth8 September 27, 2010 at 10:23 am

You cannot delete the system apps nor can you install java. If your clone phone did not come with the java package installed then you cannot install it. No point in doing so anyways since hardly any java apps actually work.
